Metric doesn’t necessarily mean weighing stuff. The idea of using metric when weighing stuff might sound nice with units as small as a gram, but even the tiny gram provides for a large margin of error when dealing with 1 tsp or less of an ingredient.
The basic U.S. volume measurements have their metric equivalents too; 1 cup=250 ml, 1tsp=5ml, etc.
Most [measuring cups](http://i.imgur.com/G5Q2Pg3.jpg) here in Canada have metric or both measurements. The same thing for [measuring spoons](http://assistivetech.net/search/productDisplay.php?product_id=53226).
